French synthwave artist Kavinsky, best known for the track “Nightcall”, has died at the age of 50, Resident Advisor understands.

Vincent Belorgey—who performed under the name Kavinsky—became widely known after his song “Nightcall” featured on Drive’s 2011 soundtrack. He released the album OutRun in 2013 and collaborated with producers including SebastiAn and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk.

His music blended retro synth textures with cinematic atmospheres and helped popularise the synthwave revival in the 2010s.
