When you have your headphones on, it’ll push you snippets of audio about the people, places, and events that are nearby. It’s meant to feel like a cross between old-school Twitter and old-school Foursquare, emceed by an AI-powered radio personality named DJ BeeBot. It works, and sometimes it’s even pretty good. Download the iOS beta and let us know what you think!About a year ago we started a new company called Hopscotch Labs to continue exploring that original “software that makes cities easier to use” vision that inspired both Foursquare and Dodgeball. We wanted to build something at the intersection of the “recently possible” and “newly ubiquitous” — a way to use wearable devices to push AI out into the streets and sidewalks. Something that could raise your awareness of the real world without requiring you to touch/hold your phone – an “app you don’t have to use”. We raised some money, we built a team, and have a prototype of something that feels new and novel. It’s early, but it works. It’s pretty good, but it’s not great.
