by Daniel SavageKaleidoscopic, vivid, rhythmic… Daniel Savage invites us into a world where geometric abstraction meets machine-assisted animation. Blurring the boundaries between analogue and digital, Savage uses a pen plotter to bring his layered, colour-rich frames to life. Inspired by nature, shapes, and the grain of handmade textures, Savage’s latest body of work captures the tension between control and chaos – where bleeding marker lines and sunset hues create a hypnotic visual rhythm. Something Savage is a meditation on process, restraint, and play: a bold exploration of how machines can extend – rather than erase – the human hand in art. The book comes with a little extra: each page is paired with augmented reality content, allowing readers to experience Savage’s work in all its technicolour splendour. Daniel Savage is a director, designer, and illustrator based in Los Angeles, known for his distinctive blend of geometry, hand-drawn animation, and visual rhythm. With roots in percussion and graphic design, his multidisciplinary background fuels a practice that balances structured simplicity with playful abstraction. Through his studio, Something Savage, he has created award-winning work for clients like MTV, The New Yorker, Hermès, and Apple. His animations – often crafted with a pen plotter – have been celebrated by the ADC Young Guns, Webby Awards, and Society of Illustrators. In addition to his creative work, Savage has taught at NYU and SVA, and founded the cult film series Yule Log 2.0. Vetro Editions, 2025Softcover, 80 pagesDimension 20 x 25 cmISBN: 978-3-9826086-5-5
